3 Reasons Why Job Boards Are a Great Option When Hiring

Updated: Oct 24, 2022

When you are hiring, whether for growth or employee turnover, there are many options that exist to attract job seekers to you and your job openings. One of them are job boards.

Job boards are helpful for many reasons. First and foremost, they’ve been the most utilized format for job seekers to search for job openings for the better part of the last 25 years. Due of their longevity and reach, the following are 3 reasons why job board are a great option when hiring.

1. Engage with the Masses

Job boards have been around for over 2 decades and have become the go-to source for job seekers to find opportunities at every stage of their careers. Keenly aware of this, job boards have invested heavily in the latest technologies available to keep this trend going, from auto-alerts notifying job seekers of right-fit job matches, to video resume capabilities, automated application processes, and keyword optimization.

Job boards haven’t ignored the employer side of the equation either. Functionality such as automated resume reviews, candidate matching logic, and notifications of newly created job seeker accounts/resumes are just a few of the benefits job boards bring when hiring. Essentially, job boards contain just about everything you need: the lowest cost per hire option combined with the greatest exposure opportunity. A win-win!

2. Cost Savings

Speaking of lowest cost per hire value, job boards are less costly than antiquated newspaper advertisements, and significantly less expensive than recruiting costs and headhunter fees. The trade off, of course, is that you are operating in a time-consuming, self-service situation. In some cases, job boards are free for employers to post jobs, and others offer a free trial. And of course, they’re free to job seekers. Another win-win!

3. Mobile Capabilities

I cannot stress this enough: the mobile capabilities of job boards, from a mobile friendly layout to full on engagement and application process through a couple clicks on an app, is the future of job seeker interaction. In addition, some job boards automatically feed their postings to hundreds of other job boards, and vice versa, expanding your reach at no additional cost. Again, a win-win!

I’m not discounting recruiters, headhunters, networking, or any other method of attracting job seekers and hiring candidates, as they have their benefit and value (I’ll be writing about these separately in another post), however the job board option remains a great – if not the greatest – option available.
